Coach Nadira Ricks entering her sixth year as Head Girls Basketball Coach. Coach Ricks maintained a competitive program with a career record 87-49 and advanced to four DCIAA Finals appearances in 5 years. A graduate of Wilson (c/o 1990) and member of the 1989 DC Interhigh Championship under Legendary Coach Horace Fleming III. Last season 2018-19, Coach Ricks lead the Lady Tigers to 20-10 overall record and 1st Place in DCIAA Regular Season with an undefeated record 13-0. The Lady Tigers were DCIAA Runner-Ups. Tara Cousins earned DCIAA Player of the Year in your Junior season. In addition, Senior Guard/Forward Edmee Brown-Egue was honored as Senior Female Basketball Athlete of the Year and Frank Bolden Pigskin Scholar Athlete.
Also, Senior & four-letter Varsity player, Mecca Camille will be playing basketball next year at Bryant & Stratton College in Buffalo, New York. In 2015 and 2016, Coach Ricks debut season and the follow up season lead the Tigers to 20-8 and 19-9. In just her second season, she won DCIAA Championship. Three players received All League honors: Tytilayo Green (1 st Team), Angelica Chacon (2 nd Team) and Tuziah Hall (1 st Team). After graduating from Wilson HIgh School, Coach Ricks received 4-year Athletic Scholarship and attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Coach Ricks was a stand-out Point Guard earning All-Metropolitan honors: 1st Team consecutive years 1989 & 1990. Four year lettered for Lady Hoyas and member of the 1993 Big East Regular Season Co-Championships & NCAA Sweet Sixteen team, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.
On January 18, 2014, she was inducted into 2014 Georgetown University Athletic Hall of Fame Women’s Basketball. She currently works as Assistant Athletic Director/Title IX Coordinator at Woodrow Wilson Senior High School. “It has been a pleasure coaching, mentoring and teaching at my alma mater the game of basketball and preparing our future generations for life. Associate Head Coach
Coach Derek Campbell has been an Assistant Coach with the Lady Tigers going on six years. He is the brains behind the uptempo style offense. He began his coaching career in 1991 at HD Woodson High School as Head Boys Junior Varsity and Assistant on Boys Varsity until 1993. He lead the Junior Varsity team to two consecutive Championship titles. In 1994, he become Head Boys Junior Varsity Coach at Bishop McNamara his alma mater and the following took over at Head Boys Varsity Coach. In his first season as Head Coach, he won the school’s first Conference Title and City Title, while receiving Coach of the Year honors 1995. In 2010, he was named Head Girls Basketball Coach at Bishop Ireton compiling more than 70+ wins.
Coach Campbell graduated from Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Maryland and become the school’s All-Time Rebounder with 986 and 9 th on its scoring leaders averaging 17 points. Coach Campbell received an athletic scholarship to Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. He was team captain and earned All MAAC honors. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He has been married to Vivian Young/Campbell for 24 years. Coach Campbell has four children: Derek Jr., Nia, Erin & Summer.
Coach Jennifer Conklin has been on the coaching staff five years as an Assistant Coach. Coach Conklin is also the team’s Strength & Conditioning Coach and provides a well-rounded Pre-Season work out plan and develops player fundamental skills. Coach Conklin’s hometown Watkins Glen, New York and she graduated from Watkins Glen High School 2010. She played 4 years of High School basketball & attended DIII SUNY Brockport College. She has previously been Head Coach Boys Varsity (NY), Assistant Girls Basketball Coach (NY), Assistant Coaches for Swimming (Wilson) and Track & Field (NY & DC), Assistant Coach for Swimming. Coach Conkin has a Bachelors’ Degree in Physical Education. She currently is Physical Education teacher at Wilson High School since 2015.
